The Millenium bridge opens at 12noon all through the summer. There's a cafe at The Baltic and all the pubs serve coffee. Views of the Sage fantastic. Plenty of restaurants, great views from The Baltic Centre Viewing platform. Seeing the Millenium Bridge lifting for river traffic and how pretty it looks lit up at night. Lovely to walk right along the quayside, great Sunday market here too. Brilliant bus service on both sides of Quays to town centre and elsewhere with terrific value £2 day ticket.

The Baltic which is the free art gallery over the Millenium Bridge, the Sage which has a geat cafe with stunning views, the many cafes and restaurants, in summer the beach!,the Sunday Market and the general river vibe. Parking now better with the new multi storey.

Twenty five years ago years ago the quayside was a place to be avoided. Derelict sheds, old cranes and car scrapyards sat where the Pitcher and Piano and Malmaison now stand.
Today the area is spruce and so modern, for the most part, that it's hard to believe the transformation.
