I popped into here having been to see a film at the IMAX. I wished I had kids with me so I could shamelessly spend ages at each exhibit. It was lots of fun, and would be very educational for all ages- particularly KS2 children. The planetarium should hold regular sessions for older visitors too, as I didn't particularly enjoy... More

Thank you for your feedback, we're delighted to hear you enjoyed visiting the planetarium. Birmingham does indeed have an ever-growing number of exciting attractions. Aside from the only planetarium in the West Midlands, we will soon be opening the largest science park in the UK. We hope you will return to enjoy our outdoor exhibits this summer. Mario Di Maggio... Ideal for the whole family but I would say mostly aimed towards children - we still enjoyed it though. Would have liked to see a presentation aimed towards older children/adults. Well worth a visit and make sure you queue early! More

Thank you for your review and we're pleased you enjoyed your visit to the planetarium. During busy periods we have to run the same show throughout the day and because of the nature of our visitor profile, the show needs to be suitable for young children. Interestingly, over half of Thinktank's visitors are children under the age of 16, with... More

Brilliant - love the planetarium - one of the few DIGITAL planetariums in the world really great experience. It's not all just science though, really enjoyed both the Pink Floyd experience and the 4D art spectacular in 2010. Keep it up! (now if only I could be that creative) More

We visited the planetarium towards the end of our visit to the Thinktank (because we were too busy before that) so it was mid-afternoon by the time we got up there. We were slightly concerned whether all the children (6 kids age ranging between 5 and 1) would sit still for the 25 minute show, but they were all entranced!... More

Thank you for your review and for describing the positive effects our 360˚ film "Earth, Sun & Moon" has on children of all ages ie. exactly what our visitor evaluation (available on our website) revealed before we purchased the film this time last year. We are currently searching for a new quality family fulldome show and hopefully we will have... More

We know our presenter-led astronomy shows motivate people to go outside to enjoy the night sky, yet it's always so good to hear of specific experiences. Thank you for sharing that with us. We hope this is the beginning of a life-long hobby (or even profession) for your son. We have some helpful advice regarding telescopes and binoculars on our... More

I personally did know the music of The Planetes but not much about the composer Holst and the influences he had all around the world. The presentation was engaging and uplifting. It was such a joy listening to the guest speaker and seeing all these interesting video clips and pictures. Birth of a Robot alone was fantastic. and the Japanese... More

We're delighted you found the illustrated talk by Neil Williams enjoyable and informative, we are indeed fortunate to have one of the world's leading scholars on Gustav Holst delivering presentations in our planetarium. We agree about the Japanese song, it's our favourite too! Mario Di Maggio Manager: Thinktank Planetarium More

Not knowing much about Holst's Planets myself I found myself enchanted while listening to Neil Williams talking about Holst. Neil used audio and video clips to emphasise on points and it was such a pleasure to listan and learn about Gustab Holst. The space opera movie itself was brilliant, too. All in all it was a perfect night full of... More

We most certainly agree with you regarding the music of Holst and particularly the Planets Suite. Planetarium staff and volunteers have found it fascinating discovering how all-pervasive the music from the Planets is in modern culture, aside from it also being the inspiration for our artistic Space Opera film. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Mario Di Maggio... More
