Have to book in on a guided tour but it is possible to ring ahead. There is an exhibition upstairs in the office building which is well worth visiting to hear first hand accounts. If you're feeling hard done by take a trip to the Back to Backs - I don't think people of the 21st Century (in the UK) realise what real hardship was!

This is the only court of back to back houses left in Birmingham. My Grandmother actually lived in one of these as a child and it makes you realise how far social welfare has transformed the lives of many from inner city poverty to relative comfort.

Came with 3 generations of the family every one enjoyed them selves the guides are great. The stairs are very steep but my farther who is very bad on his feet managed them and had a great time luckerly there is disabled parking outside so not far to walk to the car. this place is great for all generation well...

My grandparents were born in courts like this so it was very touching and evocative to see how they must have lived. It is little short of a miracle that this place has survived all the changes in Birmingham, and full marks to the National Trust for taking it on and treating it with respect.

I've passed this place so many times and didn't know it was there. Lovely, friendly volunteers showed us around, relaying lots of anecdotes/information about the period. Made up of 11 dwellings, some set up from different times in history for comparison purposes. You have to book, preferably in advance, as viewing is by tour-guide only. The tour lasted about 1hr...
