Love this place. Hadnt been in years until recently. The yew trees are simply magical. Only saw 2 people while we were there. Going back again very soon and this time taking a picnic and making aa day of it. More

A nature walk around Kingley Vale offers a wealth of experiences. Firstly, there is the wonderful, haunting Yew Forest and then the bronze age burial mounds. From the highest point you can see miles and miles of the Sussex countryside. It's about a 2 - 2 1/2 hour walk and not for the faint hearted but so worth it! More

Place steeped in history, mystery and magic. Perfect for tree-huggers. Don't go at sunrise because that's when I like to go. Gets busy at weekends. More

Every visitor I have taken to Kingley Vale has been amazed and enchanted. The circular walk from the entrance to the Kingley Vale nature reserve is about 3.5 miles first ascending quite steeply through the ancient yew forest (if you didn't believe in goblins and sprites before, you will now!) to the Devil's Humps (Iron Age mounds) at the top... One of the best walks in the South Downs National Park you are lead through the oldest yew forest in the world and up to a high point on the Downs to the burial mounds of the Viking & Saxon Kings. At this point the views are fantastic of the harbour and to the west on a good day Brighton... More

Said to be the oldest trees in Britain, the dark gnarled yews of Kingley Vale have the appearance of a living cloister. The gentle walk to the vale is pleasant but the car park can get crowded on summer weekends. More
