we came across the red house because we took a wrong turning to tong garden centre. saw the notices at the side of the roads and wondered what it was. when we came to it we were pleasantly surprised. not a too big a house but interesting. can walk around it looking into the rooms.staff were nice.a quite small garden... well worth a visit - a lovely house structurally, furnished in the style of the last family to live there. Some interesting history of Mary Taylor and Charlotte Bronte too. More

If your in this area this is a little gem of a house. The house has a great feel about it. Delightful 1830's cloth merchant's home with fascinating Brontë connections. Charlotte Brontë visited often and featured Red House in her novel "Shirley". Includes period rooms, enchanting recreated gardens and exhibitions in restored outbuildings. A great little museum not far from me. Great for smaller kids because theirs a playground and loads of things to do. Needs somewhere to get a drink though :) More
