I happened upon this significant feature as part of an 8 mile walk around Pewsey Downs. The whole area has spectacular views across dramatic rolling countryside, but to come across the Wansdyke made it all the more enjoyable. A walk along Wansdyke is a refreshing antidote to crowded theme parks and fast food restaurants and a real stress-buster. Not only is it free, with stunning views of the English countryside, but the knowledge that these vast earthworks were constructed more then 1,500 years ago without the aid of modern tools provides a real sense of historical perspective.
