Even though it has a beautiful lake, the castle is too small and I believe it is no worth to visit. It is very complicated to arrive, the road is narrow it take too long from Stonehenge. English Heritage has other better facilities.

A neat old six sided castle to explore. While the indside had been gutted long ago, new concrete floors have been made so you can explore almost all levels of this castle. From the top you get a great view of the area. It's so much fun to be able to touch, walk on, around and explore the castle. The...

On a Wiltshire road trip, my fiance and I decided to go to Wardour Castle. It is a bit of a wild ride to make it but so worth the narrow country lanes! We couldn't put the castle into the GPS so we put the name of the street into the GPS and had a little difficulty finding the place....

The place is apparently also a wedding venue, we had a chuckle at the vision of guests navigating their way through the wilds to get there, which is quite a journey!
The castle was great despite outside appearances there is a lot to explore, especially for young adventurers and the castle had laid on an easter egg quiz/hunt. The grounds...

A lovely castle to visit.
The location is just breathtaking and it is very easy to imagine yourself being there back when it was fully functional.
There is something majestic about the ruins.
A little out of the way to get to, however you do pass through some of the most beautiful villages that to date I have seen.

Well off the main road, climbing up narrow country lanes, you round the corner and come accross the majestic ruin that is Old Wardour Castle. As a family with young children, it was well worth a visit as they played in the castle and the grounds, pretending they were princesses and knights. The shop sells wooden swords and daggers and...

I have visited a lot of castles in my time, but I had never even heard of this one before. But despite being off the beaten track (down some country lanes) it is well worth it. In a beautiful setting in the Wiltshire countryside.
Run by English Heritage, it cost £4 which includes an informative audio tour to supplement the...

When you think of ruined castles you picture spiral stairways leading to beautiful views through holes in walls. Passages that lead nowhere and empty rooms with nobody around. This is exactly what you will find at Old Wardour Castle.
The castle is small enough that you can let small children lose to explore without worrying that you'll loose them. But...

Old Wardour is well worth the drive through the winding country roads. The 14th century castle is a well maintained ruin which offers both a great look at history and enough mystery to keep the kids hooked. The free audio tour is great and walks you through each of the spaces, recreating what once was. The property also features a...

We arrived at Old Wardour Castle with few expectations really, and we walked out amazed. The value you get for your four pounds admittance is spectacular. We loved the audio tour. We found this to be one of the best places we'd been that afforded a real visual of how things used to be. It seems so undiscovered, though it...
