I spent a day in Salisbury and I thought it was just great. A really lovely market, beautiful cathedral and nice shops/restraunts. I would recommend taking the tourist office's city tour if you have the time/interest. It was only 4 pounds for a two hour tour, and you'll definitely go places you wouldn't on your own.
