Dont pay money to scare your kids at a theme park. You can terrify them by getting them to walk over this, the highest aqueduct in Britain. I couldnt do it. On the one side of the tweo path you have railings. Good. Then you have the canal, about 4 feet wide. And on the other side nothing. Nothing. Now... More

Just take a stroll or a 2 hour trip on the motorised canal boat through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and across the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford between 1795 and 1805. This length of canal is a World Heritage Site. The country's biggest navigable aqueduct towers a massive 126ft (38m) above the River Dee supported by 18... More

When I visited I didn't realise this was a World Heritage Site. I wanted to go as I had seen Julia Bradbury on TV here, and thought it looked a good place to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed walking over the aqueduct, though it was a bit hair raising at times when people were coming the other way with their dogs pushchairs... More

Unesco World Heritage Site. 19th Century aqueduct and canal centre. Fantastic engineering and just great to visit - walk over a tiny canal and pavement 40 metres above the valley floor. Watch the barges, eat at the cafe, feed ducks, go to the pub. Great visit, especially with young children. And the best thing - it's in Wales, only a... More

Exciting and unique. The Llangollen Canal is carried over the River Dee in a cast iron aqueduct that is over 200 years old (and still in excellent condition). Either walk across the span on the tow path, or much better, take a ride across and back on a narrow boat! We rode on a boat owned by a local business,... More
