Visited in April with Husband and 3 year old daughter. Not much to see or do here other than go down the slate cavern which is what we came to do anyway. Was £10.25 for one tour or £16 to do both per person. I thought this was a bit on the steep side so we opted to do the... More

Interesting and good fun. We did both of the underground tours and both were very enjoyable. Not a particularly cheap day out and be prepared to queue on a wet day but it is worth it. More

This was my forth visit to LLechwedd Slate Caverns, please see my review on Ffestiniog Railway which I combined as transport to the Mine. The mine has lots of seperate options including two underground tours, recreated shops and village etc. I was unable to participate in a large part of this attraction as my wheelchair is too wide so I... Went there with the family, you can get tickets for two mines, both very interesting, one you walk from marker point to marker point and get commentary. The other you are on a small train and get off with a guide who talks to you about the mine. Both very interesting and very educational to children and adults alike! My... More

Here you have three options: - stay on the surface, and explore the miner's cottages, and shops - underground railway - switchback ride under mountains and into a number of caverns, - and a deep mine trip - can't comment did't do it!! It was safe but at times hair-raising trip through the mountains in the narrow 'train', but the... More

Fascinating underground tour of slate mine with a look at operations in Victorian days. The dangerous, dark work those early miners did is nothing short of amazing. Slate was to North Wales what coal was to the south: an industry and commodity that brought rapid changes to a then largely agrarian society. The reason one travels is to absorb such... More

We caught a steam train from Porthmadog to the slate tavern = it was a wonderful ride up the mountains, with beautiful Welsh scenery. Once there. we caught a bus with a very friendly driver, who gave us lots of info, and then we took the tour into the slate cavern. Very interesting, and wish we had been in North... More

The visit consists of two trips, one on a small train and the other deep underground. The train is tiny and cramped but has frequent stops were you can get out. The trip to the deep mine is in a minors' tramway that goes down at a steep angle of 45 degrees. This is even more cramped. We were lucky... More

We had a good visit here on a rainy afternoon. First impressions were that this place needs a lick of paint. We started out in the cafe which was pleasant and friendly, albeit slow. Next we went in the deep mine which was fun, a short train goes deep underground and you go along with a small group through about... More

Great 30 minute tramway tour to learn about the basics of the quarry. Opportunity for another 30 minute deep mine tour to see an underground lake. Reasonably priced tickets and gift shop. More
