It's pretty interesting to see how slates are cut and to learn about the different sizes and why they are called Countess etc. Also the things slate cutters made to show their skill, such as really fine 'fans' of slate.

Visited the Slate Museum it was really interesting and Free which is very rare for any entertainment you visit these days
Dont miss the terraced houses over the years that was really good and make sure you see the massive water wheel
The slate splitting show was also very good and the man who run's it made it interesting

We arrived just after opening at 10 AM on Sunday and enjoyed many of the exhibits. The short movie started at 11 and we sat and watched it and were amazed at how hard the lives were for the slate quarry workers. At 11:15 we watched the slate cutting and dressing demo. Its such a great place, very interactive and informative for all ages.
You can see and appreciate what life was like in the slate qarry.

Fascinating - far more extensive than we thought. It really took you back in time and there was no charge for entry. Allow plenty of time as there is such a lot to see. We ran out of time so will have to return next time. Great attaction on a Rainy Day.
