The gardens of this NT property are some of the best I have visited. A perfect combination of 'formal', relaxed and wild flower. It is a shame that the house does not maximise the gardens by having the doors and windows open and bringing the house to life! More

Having been a National Trust member for many years,I have to say that this is one of the very best and most fascinating properties.A veritable step back in time.It was a pity my grandchildren were not with us on this visit,as it would be a great and pleasurable experience for them More

Truly an amazing experience of life at the beginning of the 20th century.Very comprehensive with friendly and knowlegible guides it was let down by a mediocre audio guide. Expensive ( £2 each), lacking a " pause" button with minimum effects it is a rare instance where NT is way behind English Heritage whose audio guides are free and generally very... More

This house is an amazing historical record of class history. With a unique record of it's staff over the past 350 years, as well as the history of the family who lived there. A wonderful collection of the earlist motor cars and horse drawn carriges and buggies. The piece d'resistance however are the immaculate formal gardens with their unbelievable Lime... More

always a good place to wander about, garden can be a little sparse in winter but is beautiful in summer, very easy garden for children to wander in, tearoom can get very crowded, woman in 2nd hand bookshop was a little hitler-ish once, often have interesting art and craft exhibits on, christmas market used to be great but is too... Spent a very pleasurable day here with friends over the Easter weekend. Guided tour was excellent. Although we weren't with children it was obvious that they were well catered for and they were all enjoying an Easter egg hunt! If you haven't been it's well worth a visit! Lovely grounds and very pleasant, helpful staff. More
