I felt sad visiting this mine knowing the importing of coal and cost cutting by our Govt. led to this mine and other mines closing, The communities had there back bones ripped out and left them with no alternative means of employment, I'm ashamed to be British! why can't we reopen the mines!! More

To be fair - I visited this Park a while ago and it could be much improved by now. The problem is, with Big Pit just up the road, why would you visit a 'pretend' mine? Which is what the site offers. It's great for families as it has a very good play area for children, but not really for... More

The Heritage Park is a small museum when compared to St Fagan's and the Big Pit but is good nonetheless. The tour guides are ex miners who worked at the site (it;s the former Lewis Merthyr colliery). You get a simulated undergound tour and you can see the winding house which has been beautifully preserved. There's also a mock-up of... More

Tells the story of the Rhondda very vividly and is great place to take kids. It brings history to life and the Guides are excellent. I have taken many people here from all over the world and they have all enjoyed the visit. More

This attraction in the heart of what was a large coal mining area is a must to visit. Tours are three times a day and take about two hours. Your guide(we had Mike who was an excellent tour guide with endless interesting knowledge and passion for the subject. and seems great with children). He takes you around a coal pit... More
