I felt sad visiting this mine knowing the importing of coal and cost cutting by our Govt. led to this mine and other mines closing, The communities had there back bones ripped out and left them with no alternative means of employment, I'm ashamed to be British! why can't we reopen the mines!!

We were made very welcome at reception and had a look around the attraction.It has to be said it is rough and raw as you would expect from an ex mine .The kids area is very good and the cafe very nice there is ample free parking.It is not pristine and in some parts and does not have that sanitised...

The Heritage Park is a small museum when compared to St Fagan's and the Big Pit but is good nonetheless. The tour guides are ex miners who worked at the site (it;s the former Lewis Merthyr colliery).
