I have been to Belfast many times as that is where my family come from and have been going to the Morning Star for meals for the past few year but when I read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor I was shocked as my visits had always been wonderful. I was back in Belfast coming up to Christmas... More

I had heard of the Morning Star from several friends from home whom had all recommeded it; however was immediately put off by a few negative reviews online (in the midst of an array of good ones nevertheless), yet trusted my friends, and surely was not let down in any way. In our 7 day stint in Belfast, we ventured... More

At a loss to understand the negative reviews below, which had I seen beforehand, I wouldn't have set foot inside. However, it was so good we kept popping back in throughout our break. We found the food to be good, hot, homecooked and delicious. The buffet at lunchtime is great value for money, you really must try it. Absolutely the... More

We stopped in twice to the Morning Star. Once with a pub tour then again the following day for a Guinness. On both occasions the Australian Landlady spoke to us and I found this a very nice friendly gesture. Would have loved to have eaten in one of the booths, as the place has great atmosphere. No time alas! More

I spend a lot f time in Northern Ireland doing business and I went here when I was in Belfast in late September '10 and returned in late February '11 and the change was phenomenal in a bad way I had exactly the same meal on both occasions but the standard dropt a lot, the steak was very tough and... I was not at all impressed by this bar. I thought the food was terrible. My boyfriend ordered the buffet and came down with food poisoning later that day. I don't know if this is a one off or a regular occurence for the morning star, but their hygiene was definately not up to scratch on that day. I ordered... More

I was recently taken there by my girlfriend for lunch. The layout is cramped but cosey and attracts a cross section of the community. I handed my £4.50 to the bar man, whereby I was given a plate and a knife and fork to select from the Buffet. The food was wholesome and tasty, and plenty to choose from. Warning... More
