We really enjoyed our visit to the museum which looks great and is brilliant for children. But........ the art was totally disappointing, basically only one artist on show and if rectangles don't do it for you, then forget it. more

Visited the new revamped museum on a week-day afternoon to avoid all the screaming school-kids. It is brighter and more open-plan than it was before but there seems to be less space now devoted to exhibits and more to fancy stairways and corridors. Visited the revamped Ulster Museum recently. it was great: Helpful staff, good cafes and the way the Girona and Mummy are now displayed and explained is superb. However who thought it would be a good idea to fill gallery after gallery with the same type of modern art? I hope it"s only temporary. The rest of the museum was packed... more

We spent a couple of hours at the Ulster Museum one morning. It's located in the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, just next to Queens's University. Admission is free.
