i have had a long-standing relationship with Castlewellan. Having been going tto the castle on the grounds annually as a young child, from taking youth groups there once every two years, it harbours many fond memories. the grounds are well kept, the maze is incredible...i have got lost EVERY TIME I'VE BEEN THERE!!! I challenge anyone not to get frustrated... more

An excellent outdoors family day. Castlewellan Forest Park is a good alternative to the better known Tollymore Forest Park. The Peace Maze is located here and is described on the website as follows: The maze is an area of 2.7 acres planted with 6,000 Yew trees, forming the largest hedge maze in the world. Although during the day the site is fabulous and the facilities excellent, at night the site was very noisy and not secure. No gates are locked and no night security are on duty.
