I stayed on a Fri & Sat night over Halloween with 3 female friends. Just back from a night at Slieve Donard - lovely Victorian hotel that opened in 1897. Grounds wonderful and design (exterior and interiors) was fab (def can imagine it being haunted!) Very impressive on arrival, place oozes luxury - booking in receptionist very friendly, and informative. Room on arrival was impressive. However unpacking became a struggle as the heat in the room was unbearable....room had 2 windows at a right angle which meant the sun shone in all day....opened windows and had to close the curtains...cannot believe this room in particular... more

We had our wedding here in 2007, unbelievable place! The staff could not have been more helpful. Package included one complementary night in the top suite (Bernaud?) however we ended up staying a second in the same suite and this was given free of charge also! I just love going to the Slieve Donard hotel in Newcastle. Excellent staff in all departments . My problem with the hotel is their new central booking system. Previous to this new system being installed I was able to communicate with a member of staff with whom I was able to establish a point of contact and discuss my booking... more
