A really lovely place to visit. Gardens are all well looked after and the hedging well worth a look. The best bit for me was looking round all the old farming implements and finding out what they were used for. be good for the older ones in the family. The tea shop was also good. More

The historic nature of this garden only adds to the beauty of the whole. It has formal beds and informal herbaceous borders. All are superb in high summer. Read the history in the ancient summer house. Walk around the garden, it will only take about 20 minutes to do this. Visit the farm museum then partake of tea and scones... More

It should come as little surprise that Pitmedden Gardens are well cared for, and that you will receive a warm welcome - this is a pretty consistent trait of all National Trust for Scotland properties. The Northeast is home to many castles, quite a few of which have formal gardens, but in the case of Pitmedden there really is no... More

Pirmedden is well worth the trip if you are interested in landscape gardening. The main attraction is a massive, sunken, walled garden that contains both formal box hedges and more exuberant flower borders. Despite the awful summer in Aberdeenshire, they somehow managed to make the garden a gorgeous delight: hats off to their horticultural team. There is also a kitchen... More
