Took my daughter and her friend here a couple of times when they were younger, they loved it !! It's really interesting, staff were in period dress and they got the chance to sit in an old-style courtroom and watch and listen to a "trial". Lovely old, twisty & narrow stone stairs with authentic cells and even a "madman" in... More

If you have time to spare and are also visiting Inverary Castle it is worth purchasing a ticket for both at a reduced price. You can get an insight into life in jail and although interesting it is an attraction you can miss if you only have time for 1 thing "The Castle".

A very interesting attraction although it wouldn't have been for the prisoners incarserated in the jail. Staff dressed in uniforms/costumes of the period added to the atmosphere and were happy to answer any questions. Take your camera to record the numerous photo shoot opportunities. This trip is all the more enjoyable considering its total contrast from the ususal castle/stately homes... More

This Jail lets you live the experience of an 18th Century prisoner. Sit in the old courtroom, amoungst the waxworks and hear justice being dispatched. Visit the jails, sleep in the hammocks or lie on the tables where the prisoners were birched. Read the transcipts of the cases where Prisoners were jailed and transported to Australia - It feels most... More

The people on hand around the castle were very knowledgable about the history surrounding the castle. It was a great day out and the gardens were beautiful - the Duke of Argyl was actually working in the shop too! He very kindly had his photo taken with us too!!

This is a brilliant attraction. Good for the young nod old, but if you have mobility issues it's wont be for you ab there are lots of steps. The jail is well laid out on a few levels showing lots of different aspects of what happened to inmates at the jail over the years it was open. You get to... More

This gave a very interesting view of actual prisoners and what happened to them. The court room scene is realistic and the Judge appears to be watching your every move
