Excellent walk. Bird hide. Great view of osprey nest with male osprey in attendance. Also saw reed bunting as well as many other birds Great information on all the wildlife from Karl and Dave. Will return to see the bats one evening. More

I always enjoy the fact you need to take a little boat to get to the castle. Great place for a picnic and the bird life close by is wonderful. Watch out for the ospreys. More

The walk down to the castle was nice for summer but if you have mobility issues I would not go here. The small boat ride to castle was fun. The castle itself was not too impressive and does not take too long to look around however there are some impressive views from above! More

The ferry across to the Castle of the Black Douglas sets the scene for how difficult entry to a real castle should be. This massive fortified tower exudes strength and power. Just loved the hard austerity of the whole setting. More
