We visited Threave Castle today in the pouring rain. We went on the little motor boat. Sandy, the Captain, was nice enough to assist me on and off the boat. We visited the ticket office/tourist shop and then walked to the castle. The first room is very large with a huge well. Two pigeons were also in the room too.... more

Well worth the visit (early May 09), acres of beautifully maintained grounds in a lovely setting, some rare species, spacious and well run cafe/restaurant with children's play area. Can't wait to go again later in the season. more
