That’s what the new managers of the Stockbridge Market are bringing to the new location at Jubilee Gardens ( bordered by Saunders Street and Kerr Street) The market will open every Sunday from 10am-5pm from 11th September 2011, and will trade year round (obviously sometimes dependant on the Scottish weather!!). This is an exciting new venture so whether you’re looking for something special for supper, a continental style lunch, or planning a dinner party – the Stockbridge Market will have some new produce for you to try. How about some olives as an aperitif, quality meat or fish with locally grown vegetables, followed by a selection of French cheeses and nutty brown bread, and finish things off with some traditional crepe suzettes or 'latest craze' macaroons or home baked cakes.....or local jams, cakes and lots of crafts to take home as pressies!!! « less

This is a compact and yet surprisingly large market tucked away beside the bridge at Stockbridge. There is a splendid range of goods on offer, with the emphasis on unique foodstuffs; from really good French cheese through meats (anyone for a haggis Scotch egg?) to gourmet marshmallows. More

I loved edinburgh - lots of historic buildings and great walks. One of the best was to follow the water of Leith and see all the Antony Gormley statues in the water. Best of all is to do the walk on a Sunday and then you can also visit this wonderful little farmers market right beside one of the statues... More

Our last day in Edinburgh we went for a short walk down to Stockbridge, one of the prettiest part of the town. It does not feel like a city here, the atmosphere is like a small village in the countryside. On Sundays you can find a market here, with producers selling almost everything you need: freshly baked bread, home made... More
