An excellent range of real ales and a warm welcome at this delightfully unspoiled old Edinburgh bar on the steep incline of West Bow. Not exactly a food destination if you want anything other than a tasty pie, but well worth a visit for its unique and charming atmosphere. More

The Bow Bar is everthing a bar should be, comfortable and lots of interesting memorabilia and ephemera on the walls. The narrow wee tables remind me of being on a train! My husband is slowly working his way through the whisky menu on our occasional visits to Edinburgh. The staff are always very knowledgeble and helpful in advising on a... More

My girlfriend found the Bow Bar over Tripadvisor and after aspending the day in central Edinburgh and a dinner just around the corner of the Bow Bar, we decieded to got there for a few drinks. The pub itself is a typical pub with lots of pictures and mirrors across the walls, very nice atmosphere! Thats what we like, if... More

We really love this place and go for a drink or three every time we visit Edinburgh. Real ale, selected bottles (Innis & Gunn, Titan IPA etc), no music and cosy and welcoming environment. The bar staff are knowledgable and friendly. More

Bartenders are very knowledgeable & friendly. All-around lively atmosphere with an incredible variety of beers & whiskeys. Definitely the best pub we visited while in Edinburgh. Welcoming for young and old. All around open atmosphere. More

Wandered into this bar when we were up in Edinburgh for the rugby. We had called in a couple of years ago, on the advice ofsomeone we met at a music festival in the Highlands, and had really enjoyed it. On this occasion, a Friday evening, the pub was very busy, but I still managed to get served very quickly.... More

Nice bar on the surface. Staff with bad attitudes, aggressive, self interested and dullards! Best avoided! More

I grew up in Edinburgh but now live in California. i was back over in November 2011 with my wife and while the Bow Bar has some nostalgic interest for me it is great to see that it is still just a superb authentic bar with great beer (Kashmir and Into the Light the night I was there - what's... Class bar on the pretty Victoria street off grassmarket! Nice atmosphere with no music or tvs, allows for good craic and banter with the company you are in! Great selection if ales, beers and malts! Nice atmosphere about the bar and I make a point of going each time I'm over in Edinburgh :) More

We just love the Bow bar, the selection of beer is great and it has a real feel of a pub rather than the soulless ones you can encounter at times. The Bow bar doesn’t allow large groups because it’s quite small and for us this was a added bonus, somewhere to have a good chat about the day past... More
