I've visited only the kirk exterior and graveyard, not the interior. Nevertheless, it was a very interesting visit. The (very old) graves are fantastic, though the majority is not in good conditions. The cemetery is very spooky, with the old graves, some broken, some with old grilles to avoid theft of the bodies (that was common in the past, when... More

We just had a look around the cemetery, the headstones so macabre but fascinating. Many reasons to visit include the story of Greyfriars Bobby & the history of the bodysnatchers. Creepy old mausoleums and terrible history of the covenanters. Part of the Flodden Wall can be seen in the grounds. The place is not neglected but could be better maintained.... More

Steeped in history. The graveyard alone is well worth a visit. Reading the tombstones reveals many names from Edinburgh's past. More

It was inside Greyfriars Church thet the Scottish "National Covenant" was first subscribed to. This can still be seen in a small side room. The church is pretty plain although steeped in history. That's why I would put it below "very good" However it is above average. The graves of "Greyfriars Bobby" and of his master Jock Grey are what... More
