Mercat offer a variety of different tours, we did the "Historic Vaults" version. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable & you could hear him from all parts of the group (it was quite a big group). The stories etc. were very interesting and historically accurate, rather than the sensationalism of some of the tours. Not as exciting for young kids perhaps,... more

Thanks Shagzbagz for your comments. We do a Paranormal Underground which is for the real 'ghosthunters' and it uses EMF recorders. We also have all night Vaults Vigils for the really serious or curious, and these have a medium and scientific equipment. We had a blast on this tour, amazing city. The stories told by Faith really got your imagination going.................brilliant involvement of the group. The underground vaults are amazing, a must see. Coming back to do the Historic tour of the vaults during the day on our next visit. All staff were really, really friendly. more

If you only have time for one tour, it has to be the Vault Tour. Our guide Margaret was absolutely brillant and geninuely interested in Edinburgh's history. I only wish we had time to do the Ghost Tour as well! more
