bit too much crowded into too small a space - bit over the top. Took foreign visitors to see it but had to explain that this is not what a weaving mill actually looks like.

Know which clan family history is? If don't, then they can help as well as create family crest. If do, then this is the place to purchase many items sporting your clan crest, motto, or colors. Right next to castle and across Royal Mile from Scotch Whisky Experience.

A great location next to the castle but a missed opportunity. Too many signs saying don't take photos! Potential for some very interactive exhibits and a better layout. Good photographer to take you picture in tartan!

Based on some guidebooks I thought this was actually gong to be a museum. In reality it is much more of a maze of a shop with a view mannequin in traditional dress thrown in. Looking for souvenirs stop in, looking for a museum go elsewhere.

For us this was the best stop in our day trip to Edinburgh. It is a huge shop with a delightful exhibition in the center demonstrating the history of Scottish attire and tartan weaving. There are blankets, scarves, kilts etc. although we found the clan selections to be surprisingly limited. The MacGregor, Cunningham, and Douglas clans were certainly well represented...

A labarynthine burrow designed to extract money from gullible tourists with maximum possible efficiency. Behold the tatty shop dummy travesties supposed to depict scenes of ancient cottage industry. Stand agahst in awe of the "water wheel" spinning under what amounts to a dripping tap. Gaze in wonderment as streams semi-conscious bipedal forms trudge slowly, in-line, around and down, down, down...

Not bad if you need to kill a bit of time, basically a shop with a little bit of live weaving on show.

We thought we were visiting a museum that would show us something about traditional Scottish mill weaving. This is really a store.

Truely the only store with the extensive variety of tartans available in Edinburgh. You can buy everything from hats, scarves, mittens and bolt fabric. The short history of the tartan outfit is interesting as is the view of knitting and weave machines. Located conveniently outside the Edinburgh Castle, you cant miss it.

This was one of the highlites of our trip, the castle, the town and what we found to be a ---real!!--- spot to gather information on
surnames. The Mill was also fantastic. We would love to do it all over again.
Our three days went by very fast.
