The National Gallery is a small art museum with impressive works on display. Iconic "Rev'd Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch" alongside Monet, Degas, Seurat, Van Gogh, Gaugin - WOW! more

I was stunned as soon as we walked through the door. This is a beautiful building with an amazing art collection. This is a must see for art enthusiasts of the medieval through Renaissance through Impressionist eras. I wish we had been able to spend more time there. The collection was larger than I anticipated. The National Gallery of Scotland is a wonderful museum that receives far less international attention than it deserves. They've got a marvelous collection of Scottish and European works. Everything is well labeled and the museum is just the right size to make for a satisfying walk-through. Best of all the restaurant is terrific . more
