There are 2 sides to Leith. The recently developed new parts with nice restaurants is really nice with some special places that are not always easy to find. The other side is 'old leith' if you want to have a true Leither experience I can recommend the port of leith bar. More

What an amazing place - we went all the way down Leith walk first and had a look at all the different shops. They have everything and then when you get to the bottom there are all these bargain clothes shops. We got some fabulous clothes at knockdown prices before heading to the quay for a meal. Perfect day out. More

Great walks along the shore and docks; fantastic bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets; Malmaison hotel; the Scotch Malt Whisky Society club rooms - all great reasons to visit Leith when visiting Edinburgh. More

I used to stay in Edinburgh many years ago and I liked to shop in Leith as their was a good variety of shops. I know times are hard but everywhere I went there was people begging on the street and the place is tired and run down looking with dirty streets. Would not feel safe out a night too... More

We arrived at lunch time, booked into Malmaison, wandered round the bars and listened to the music and had lunch at The Shore, excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Went back to hotel had a kip the dinner and back round the bars and so to bed!! wonderful. More

30 years ago if you’d asked about Leith, you would have gotten a very different story. Edinburgh’s main port was a hot bed for prostitution, crime and general sailory related dodginess. Nowadays however it is a different story. Home to the royal yacht Britannia here you’ll find some of Edinburgh’s finest restaurants and stylish bars. Leith is where the locals... More

Lots of interesting restaurants and a good art gallery with the charm of the water of Leith running through under the bridge. Even a restaurant on a boat but dirty streets, dubious characters in shadowy alleyways and a feeling being "half improved". More

Grew up in Leith and I love it, the people are so friendly, and lots to see. I like nothing better than eating and drinking outside one of the many bars More
