This pub has a great atmosphere and allure due to its namesake (the inspiration for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde). There was a very long wait and queue for dinner when we went on a Sunday evening. The food was tasty and my husband got a wild boar and chorizo burger (definitely haven't seen that anywhere else!) which was quite... More

Went to Deacon Brodies because I read that it is kid friendly. Long wait for a table, long wait for a waitress, long wait for the food. We were really on the edge by the time the food came. The kids were about to eat each other and there were no games or coloring or anything like that at the... More

Nice, inexpensive food. When we went there it was a bit crowded, but still the service was efficient and it has a nice environment. It may not be the best restaurant in Edinburgh, but it is a nice place to have a scottish meal and you won't regret it. More

I visit deacon brodies when ever I am in Edinburgh and it has never failed to impress me with it's great staff and service who do at times seem a little pressured . The food has always been fantastic as have the drinks . Tried the wild boar burger recently and was delighted . Keep up the great work !!! More

One of the best places to find the character of early Edinburgh. After a wander through the back lanes off the Royal mile it was great to sit and soak up the atmosphere of a local landmark. Good beer, great service, recommended. More

I have to be honest and say the food here was disgusting. I ordered a fillet steak but they served me a rib eye. It was horrible, the other food on the plate was cold (and vile) and they also forgot my friends meal so I was finished mine then he got his. The service was slow and unprofessional. I... More

An awful place to go!!! I recommend you go elsewhere... Mother and i booked onto an evening underground tour which started at 9, at the time is was approaching 7 so we decided to eat before we went. Went into the pub thinking we'd get homely food... Once in the pub we were seated pretty much straight away, but has... More

Myself and wife visited Deacon Brodies just before xmas on a Saturday night about 8 ish. We had been a few times before and had enjoyed the food although in a cramped atmosphere. Went upstairs and place was more or less empty. Old bar manageress and 1 bar maid doing next to nothing behind the bar, ignoring us and letting... More

Excellent place for a beer in their pub or an amazing lunch or dinner in their cosy dining room upstairs. Food is to die for. I cannot understand all the negative comments. Seriously. Their haggis is amazing, so is the duck ! We went twice whilst on our 5 day holiday! And it was August too... you have to wait... More

Nice history and location. Dreadful service. Poor food ( burnt and turned over-as if you won't notice!!!!!)and warm white wine-because of the warm weather in Scotland and fridge can't cope!!!Was so looking forward to eating here and was so disappointed! we even gave it a second chance and went back again and it didn't get any better. Won't be back! More
