we decided to pop into the lighthouse to visit have a look at the story of glasgow audiovisual show and am glad we did it! the display on the same floor had information about important people in glasgow's history and there was also information on landmarks and important buildings. the audiovisual show itself was unusual as it was projected on... Difficult to find initially but worth it for the exhibition on how Glasgow has formed and the floor map. Staff really friendly, probably as I was only one on that floor at the time. Didn't realise you could go up the tower though! More

Hi Alison, So glad you enjoyed the Foundation exhibition. You can indeed climb the Mackintosh Tower from the 3rd floor up to an outside view of the city. It's 135 steps in total but definitely worth it! There is also an enclosed Viewing Platform on the 6th floor that you can reach by lift if you don't fancy the stairs!... More

Useful presentation on the story of Glasgow, but at full price left a feeling of it being overpriced for a powerpoint presentation (even if it was on the floor!). The 2 for 1 offer from promotional leaflets would take that irritation away. The rest of the building is worthy but would benefit from more in depth material. That said the... More

It is quite difficult to locate because it was hidden in a very narrow lane. Quite empty, with a few exhibits here and there about Mackintosh although the place has quite a big space. Went up to the viewing platform but there wasn't really any great view to see. The Water Tower may be interesting for those who are ok... More

This iconic building was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1895 for the Glasgow Herald newspaper. Luckily it has now found another use as an exhibition space for architecture and design. Admission is free and it has a good observation area with views of the city skyline. The cafe is also worth a visit. More
