Provand’s Lordship is the oldest building in Glasgow. It was built in 1471 as part of St Nicholas’s Hospital by Andrew Muirhead, Bishop of Glasgow. The building’s name is derived from a clergyman known as the ‘Lord of the Prebend of Balernock’ who lived here later. His name was corrupted to ‘Lord Provan’.
