I am glad we stopped for lunch here during our mostly-architectural tour of Glasgow, but the Mackintosh association is its only distinction. The food was unexceptional for the most part (although the Cullen skink was good). The service was harried and disjointed, and we saw one of the servers (who seemed to be more or less the hostess) sneeze into... more

I went to the Willow Team Rooms on Sauchiehall Street and was just so disappointed. I went once about 10 years ago and couldn't wait to go back, but oh how it has deteriorated. The first surprise when I walked in was there were plenty of free tables. This should have forewarned me! The waitress gestured carelessly across the room... more

Definately worth a visit but I agree with other reviewers - don't bother staying for tea! Very run down and shabby. Horrible smell lingers on stairways which have sticky carpets. Macintosh would turn in his grave. Odd, chipped crockery. Thin paper serviettes rather than proper napkins, cheap cutlery - no tea knives or cake forks! Butter in plastic packs rather... more

We have been to the Willow Tea Rooms twice. I love the orange tea and scones. Beautiful chairs! The service is OK. more

We walked into the Willow Tea Rooms expecting it to be on a par with say Sally Lunn's in Bath, or Betty's in York. Yes, we naively expected that, given the prices on the menu here. Well. Ok, the decor is a bit shabby, but hey, I was prepared to let that pass, after all this is a tourist hotspot,... more

This review refers to the tea rooms on Sauchiehall Street. After reading quite a few negative reviews we were a bit apprehensive, but we were pleasantly surprised. While slightly run down, (what can you expect after all that time), it was much better than we were expecting - all my photos look OK. One negative is that the service was... more

First impressions were good, we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. It all went downhill from here. The first choice of pastry was not available on the day which was disappointing as it appeared in the menu anyway. We ordered our drinks and alternative snacks and looked forward to them arriving. They were disappointing. The chocolate brownie was... more

Was at the willow tea room today and was shocked by the way the staff did not know how to serve and treat valued customers. It was as if they did not care about scottish tradition. The food was mediocre (very over priced) nearly cold on arrival to our table and when I complained it was as if no one... more

As Glasgow tourists keen on design, we were excited to hit the Willow Tea Room on Sauchiehall. Do not be deceived by the clean, inviting website. . .Once we found it, weirdly out of place amongst thrift stores and defunct stereo shops, we regretted our decision with every passing minute. The decor could be beautiful if it were cared for,... more

This place seems to live off the reputation of CRM without actually doing anything to justify it. The room was overcrowded with barely room to move between the tables. We were led to a table by the girl on the checkout, but none of the wait staff was actually told we were there, and given their young ages, they hadn't... more
