This is a great little campsite on the West Highland Way, very friendly staff who want your experience to be the best it could be. The facilities are equally good, although we did have a little midge experience being so close to the river. Unfortunately sleep was disturbed by search helicopters, due to an incident during the early hours when... More

My husband and I walked a section of the West Highland Way from Inverarnan to Crianlarich with our Poodle. The walk was relatively easy going and scenic with lovely views of the surrounding hills and a great section with views of the Falls of Falloch. Being May there were lots of sheep with their lambs around and we kept our... More

My husband and I have walked the West Highland Way three years in a row this year being our fourth although we did walk it for the first time in 2001. We love it. The scenery is amazing in parts and even for someone who is what you could term a weekend walker is doable with enough determination and plenty... More

I wrote reviews for places we stayed along the way but only just realised I should have reviewed the walk itself. I had wanted to do the West Highland Way for a while though I am relatively new to serious walking. I decided that i would like to do the way before I turned 50 (which was last July) and... More

Having looked over the reviews here and having a little laugh at them I thought I would write my own little review. Myself and my friend (we have never walked more than 20 minutes to the local pub) decided to take on the west highland way. With no planning and no thought we got our bags packed and headed off.... My husband and I walked the West Highland Way in June of 2011 as a 15th year wedding anniversary trip. We are both in our early 40s. We decided on the following itinerary: 1: Drymen 2: Rowardennan 3: Inverarnan 4: Tyndrum 5: Kingshouse 6: Kinlochleven 7: Fort William Although we are both fit and active, we found each day a... Went with www.macsadventure.com for a 7 day trek. The organisation and hotels booked were superb, couldn’t thank Macs enough. Will use them for other long distance walks too. Milngavie to Fort William is the direction to do it in – the sun is behind you and if you are lucky the wind pushes you along, believe me on the 20-21... More

I have literally just finished walking the West Highland Way (6 days, staying in B&Bs and hostels along the way) and although the process was sometimes painful and tiring, it was well worth the sense of achievement at the end. If you do plan to stay in B&Bs and hostels along the way then it's well worth booking in advance... More

Decided to try something different this year and sacrifice the sunbed by the pool to tackle the walking route from Glasgow to Fort William. This started on Monday 5th to Saturday the 10th September. By the end of the week found the feeling of frustration kicking in due to the fact nothing much has changed over the years regarding the... More

Myself and two friends did this walk over 6 days. I'd say people of any age and finess can do the walk, but adjust the time taken accordingly. If I do it again, which I probably will, I'd do it in 7 days to have more time to appreciate the scenery. Our trip was: Day 1 - Milngavie to Drymen... More
