We have just returned from walking the West Highlad Way. We arranged it through Discovery Travel who booked our accommodation in B&B's or hotels as we walked the 97 miles from Milngavie to Fort William. (We took 7 days) They also arranged for our luggage to be transported - all went like clockwork. The walk itself is amazing, it crosses... more

The West Highland Way is a 95 mile walk from Milngavie (on the outskirts of Glasgow) to Fort William (or vice versa), highlights include walking along the shores of Loch Lomond and past Ben Nevis. I would recommend taking the following items on the way – 1. Suncream (depending on time of the year) 2. Midge repellent (DEET based sprays... more

I had an unexpected cancellation of a trip to Cheshire this summer (due to my sister being hospitalised) and so thought I'd try some of the lovely walks on the West Highland Way. As I suffer badly with asthma (I'm on 7 different medications for it),it was with some trepidation. One of my favourites turned out to be the walk... more

West Highland Way - August 2006 My sister and I walked the West Highland Way in August 2006. Most of the places we stayed at were fantastic, but a few of the pubs weren't that great so these comments might help any of you who are planning a trip. The walk was wonderful and the scenery amazing, so if you're... more

The Wet Highland Way In case you’re wondering my “spell-check” is working. To my way of thinking, when it rains for, at least part of, six out of the seven days, “Wet Highland Way” is more appropriate. Unless, of course, you’ve been brought up in Fort William in which case anything less than ten and a half hours constant rain... more
