After the breathtaking drive through desolate highland mountains, arriving at Inverewe is a liking entering another country. The rhododendrons were in bloom and there were so many varieties! It's a great place to visit with lots of walks through the forest as well as the gardens. As it's such a long drive to get there the visitor would want to... More

We had quite a detour to get to Inverewe but it was worth it. The number of varieties of rhodies and azaleas was astonishing. The only downside was that a lot of plants did not have labels so we could only guess what we were looking at. The scenery around the area is worth the drive alone. More

These gardens are worth a visit at any time of year and especially in May if you like rhododrenons and azaleas. But please do take a picnic . We had a splendid walk around today ( 6.5.12) and worked up a goodly appetite; alas all the cafe could offer at 3.00 p.m. was dried up lunch time hot dishes, seven... More

Oh dear, so sorry to disappoint. Please don't bring a picnic - we'll do our best to improve! In our defence we are open 10 - 4p.m. and serve hot food between 11.30 - 3p.m., so you must have caught the day's dishes being taken off. Provided we are not too busy we are happy to try and help by... More

The garden was worth the long drive. On the way there the landscape is stunning. We remember the many red rhododendrons in the garden and some that had very large leaves and trusses of flowers. There was a number of rare trees including Wollemi Pines. We thought the walled garden was on an impressive scale compared with other gardens in... More

To find a large botanical garden in the far north of Scotland planted with a diversity of trees, shrubs and flowers not normally seen at this latitude is quite an achievement! The gardens are well laid out in themes of countries and garden styles such as the Barbian Walk. It was a wet day when we arrived so sensible footwear... More

Inverewe is definitely worth the drive, we drove here from Inverness and the scenery on the way up was fantastic. The garden is massive with lots of different areas to explore. We visited in September but there were lots of flowering plants and some of the trees were starting to turn, it was beautiful even with the intermittent rain and... More

This must be a splendid place if you like visiting gardens. The walled garden, especially the vegetables made me very jealous, but the rest of it was for me a charming walk. The ponds were interesting especially the one with the small islet covered in pitcher plants. I would have like to see more descriptive labels so that I could... More

I think reviewer ixannaqbil has missed the point regarding these gardens. I agree that there isn't much here that you can't see in gardens in the south of England but considering the latitude of the area, the planting is stunning, allowed by the mild climate brought about by the gulf stream. It was a wet and windy morning when we... More

I immensely enjoyed my stroll through the gardens, despite intermittent rain and gusty winds. These gardens have such a diversity of plant life due to the currents from the Gulf Stream that moderate the temperatures in this area. There are beautifully manicured lawns, formal gardens, natural woodlands, ponds, a beach, coastal views, and plant life from all over the world.... More

I expected some magnificent plants here but they are no different to normal gardens in the south of England. And we had to pay £1 for the car park. Nice gardens but expensive for what they were. More
