Great intro to the history of the Jacobite rebellion. The museum is very well designed and engrossing. The 5 minute in a 360 degree theatre does a great job immersing viewers in the battle. You get to wield a real life sword, shield at manned tables. The story of the lead up to the battle is told from both the... More

I'm a museum professional so am pretty picky about the museums I visit. Culloden is a great museum - one of the best we went to in Scotland. More

Very well done visitors center with lots of interesting stories and facts that educate without boring you. The gift shop is excellent as well and not priced so outrageously as other gift shops. More

For those of us who grew up and were educated in Scotland this visitor centre comes as a bit of relief. If you were to stop passers-by, Ancient Mariner-like, on the high streets of any Scottish towns or cities and posed the question of what happened at Culloden, the usual answer would be that the English fought the Scots (and... Moving beyond belief. Educating and informative. The story of Government vs Jacobite is split into two perspectives and the tale unfolds as you walk around the museum before finally arriving on the field itself. The GPS based headsets are especially good. More

Great tour of Cullodon Battlefield. You can do a guided tour or walk around on your own and listen to the satellite audio system, which we found to be very good. A very moving experience. More

I feel that I should choose my words carefully when describing Culloden Battlefield. It would be inappropriate to use terms like a "fun day out for all the family" given the carnage of Culloden and the immediate aftermath. If in the Highlands this is still a must see place. The visitor centre is vastly improved from when I first went... More

We visited Culloden a few years ago before they expanded the visitor centre, and I would have to say the improvements are great. I felt we left with a good understanding of what was a very complex period of history. On a practical note, it can get pretty chilly out on the moor so the cafe is a bit of... More
