Just visiting Culloden and walking the battlefield is an experience in itself. The new visitor centre enhances this experience with a wealth of historical background, clearly telling both sides of the story. The 360 degree film and aerial view of the battlefield are excellent. We took the battlefield tour with one of the very knowledgeable guides from the visitor centre.... More

This is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit and now I have succeeded. The visitor centre is very impressive and as I say gives a very well balanced presentation of the events leading up to the battle. The romantic side of Bonnie Prince Charlie is downplayed correctly and just the known facts are displayed. The outdoor guide that... More

To make scottish history come alive in a quiet field outside Inverness needs skill understanding and a sense of what makes it feel modern. It gives without sentiment the feel of the day and the decisions that made it right or wrong according to to your own view, someday all museums will be like this

We did not go into the museum, but you are able to walk the battlefield without paying an entrance fee. The battlefield is well marked with tall flags of different colors marking the lines of the Jacobites and the Royalists. It was a rough field and there were reminders everywhere of the lives that were sacrificed in this battle. To... More

This visit was fabulous. I had been in 1976 and it was basic. The exhibition area and the interactive things and the showing of the battlefield was amazing. We went into the cinema part and watch a re-enactment and i have never seen anything so great . Alot of thought and money has gone into this centre and a walk... More

Heard that all we'd see was a marker in a field. It was way more than that. The visitor centre and the exhibition explained what happened at Culloden and the lead up to it so very well. I've always been intrigued after reading Diana Gabaldon's books and I wasn't disappointed. I found it very moving to wander around the fields... More

Famous and important battle in 1745, which is all explained in an excellent and very new visitor center. Gift shop and restaurant were outstanding as well. Also did a guided tour of the battlefield itself, but there is not much to see....only knowing that you are standing where it took place is enough for many.

A stop at Culloden Battlefield, site of the last war in Great Britian is a must for anyone interested in history. Bonny Prince Charlie lost it all here to the English army, as did the Highlanders who also lost their way of life. There is an admission fee, gift shop, and you can wander around the battlefield til your heart's... More

If you love Scotland and it's history this is a must see site. The visitor Center is very well laid out and has lots of interesting things to see. The staff are very knowledgeable which you would expect for from the National Trust. The room with a 360 degree battle view really does give you a sense of what those... More
