A church converted into a used book store with a caffe upstairs. With fireplace burning and stacks of vintage books everywhere this is a great place for a coffee or just to wonder--friendly and easy to find it is next to a historic church and cemetery. A nice stop in an otherwise useless city of Inverness More

One of the most unique environments for a bookshop and cafe I've come across. Brilliant for browsing or for excellent home-cooking More

We have been visiting Leakey's for some time now , it is an absolute "must do" during our visits to Scotland. A wide range of books, fabulous food , maps, photos, illustrations. We always stagger out with armfuls of treasures. The huge wood burning stove adds to the atmosphere of the former Gaelic church, it is hard to grag yourself... More

We spent a few hours exploring this gem of a bookshop located in a historic church. Thousands of second-hand books for sale cover all topics including a large selection of local interest. There is also a coffee shop and although I did not eat here they apparently have the best soup in town! I was able to find an old... More

Beautiful place. I confess to a liking for any second hand bookshop, but this place has to be THE second hand bookshop. Small cafe upstairs with excellent food - try their soup's - a log fire and all in the setting of a converted church. I feel I am actually in a library rather than a bookshop when I am... More

I first learned of Leakey's Second-hand Bookshop through the student travel guides “Let’s Go Great Britain.” I’m very fond of visiting the UK’s book festivals, bookstores, and campus bookstores. And I chose Inverness as my home base because you can reach so many Scottish Highland / Island attractions easily from Inverness. Anyway, I stationed myself at a B&B in Inverness... More

Leakey's was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. As theater and book lovers, we were closer to heaven in this delightful place than we could have imagined. The shock was the taste of the "millionaire shortbread" upstairs in the cafe. I truly thought I could die at that moment in perfect peace and contentment. If you visit Scotland, Leakey's... More
