We drove to Ayr and stopped to view the Auld Kirk and the Brig O'Doon. We then walked down a tree-lined road; large red and brown leaves were falling from the chestnut trees, reminding us that it was autumn. It wasn't far to the Tam O'Shanter Experience, a pseudonym for a gift shop and a peaceful café selling delicious home... more

Great attractions, it's made up of 3 parts for your £5 entrance ticket or 'passport' as it's called - Burns Cottage, Burns Monument, Brig O'Doon & Gardens & the Tam O'Shanter Experience (this is where the coffee shop & gift shop are, although there is another opposite the cottage & downstairs from the hotel across the road from the monument).... more

I call it the Robbie Burns walking tour. Donald - WOW ! He is Robbie Burns ! Dressed in period costume and quite charming, mostly walked backwards whilst telling the tale of poor Tam. He puts you right there with Tam !! and he was kind enough to explain to this Texan what parts I didn't understand... I cannot recommend... more
