The castle appears to be permanently closed and is up for sale I believe. You can look round the gardens but at £5.50 pp this seemed too expensive so we left ! More

We visited Torosay last week, and it was an interesting house and garden to look around -- especially for those into horticulture. A private function was going on in the castle, and many things were closed, but the ladies in the tearoom took pity on us as we'd spent so long there. They brought us out some coffee and cake...... Have been put off before we go! phoned to get information as pllanning trip with wheelchair bound mother and spoke to a very rude gentleman who was only interested in the fact that they were selling the castle and didn't have time for anything else! From reading the other reviews this is obviously where the staff attitude stems from and... More

I love history and visit a lot of castles and I liked Torosay for the fact that it was different. There is a strong family atmosphere and a very friendly approach here - you are invited to sit down and enjoy the rooms rather than told to keep off the furniture. The Victorian-ness of the whole place is almost over-whelming... More

The castle itself is still a private home so it very much feels like one is visiting the owners. If the weather is nice, you might want to enjoy the grounds as soon as you arrive because they are really worth taking some time, with the classical division between a garden and a park. This is a very enjoyable environment,... More

I visited Torosay Castle as part of a group earlier this month and I loved it. It's a gorgeous home (and it's very much a home as well as a castle/musuem) and the grounds are lovely. If you get the opportunity to take a guided tour, I highly recommend it - the family is very engaging and interesting. One of... More

I’ve just come back from a wonderful weekend with my wife and 2 kids on Mull and one of the highlights of our weekend was Torosay Castle & Gardens. We were all made to feel very welcome by the owners who were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us good tips on where to go on our journey round... More

Of course, Torosay is lovely...after all, it is a victorian castle, something we don't see every day!, and it is situated on a lovely isle, with well planned Italian gardens, and many lovely objects in the various rooms well displayed -- I visited in Mid-August of 2007, and took the little train up to the castle, which was quite amusing...
