The rain pouring down for the first part of my visit did nothing to diminish the beauty of the gardens and the castle ruins. Meticulously landscaped and maintained. The ruins were very picturesque as well (I love architecture). I stopped in the museum of the Isles and looked around, but didn't spend too much time in there- it didn't hold...

We visited on a wet and windy day in September 2011. The weather limited our walking round the grounds but we saw enough to give us a taste of the pleasure we would have had on a nicer day. For us, the museum on its own was well worth the entrance fee. It tells the story of the Lords of...

7 quid is a lot of money for a ruined Victorian house, a not especially great garden and a half-hearted visitors centre. One to miss. If your time is limited on Skye go to Dunvegan Castle instead, much better value, more interesting and REALLY great gardens.

We are staying in the Old Stables at Armadale Castle - part of the Clan Donald Trust Castle and land and everything has been thought of. My husband and I got married there on the 8th June. It was just the two of us and we were made to feel so special by the staff. The ceremony was held at the sculptured ruin which made our day extra special. The gardens are so beautiful that day and we cant wait to see our wedding photos so...

The evening meals are delicious and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the restaurant is fantastic. Also the gardens and museum were very impressive and if you visit try to have a shot at some of the outdoor activities available. The staff are fantastic and all really friendly.

The museum is a ferry ride from Mallaig and a relatively short walk (20 minute) to the musuem. It is a relatively small place and tends to focus a lot on the clan history. In my opinion, general information on Scotland and Skye would have made it more interesting. The grounds themselves have relatively little to see except scenic vistas...
