We went up to Old Man of Stor last week (16th May). The forest at the start of the walk is being logged so the path had been moved - the new temporary path is extremelly muddy and slippy so hiking boots are essential! A few people turned back when we were there because of this. Once past this the... More

they are clear-cutting timber on a large area of the site, which detracts from the experience of walking up the path to the "Old Man" . The walk is well worth it, although it could be taxing if one is not in shape. You might note that, in Scotland, trails are just that. They are not smoothed out with warning... More

Took a 'jaunt' up the Old Man after being advised on the views. Unfortunately we had very poor visibilty when we went up. However still good and what made it even more was when walking down encountered a group of Japanese ladies who were walking up in high heels and umbrellas. Never laughed so what and it was lashing sleet... More

Easy trek to some wonderful vistas. Bring decent shoes though please. Leave the high tops for the pub afterwards. That way you can actually carry on past the car park footpaths that wind up through the forestry work and onto the hills themselves. Get to the top and turn around and youll experience pure joy.
