Take the train to Linlithgow and have a look around the lovely gentle canal centre, then ride your bike back to Edinburgh. Lots of fun and nice and flat! More

we thought it would be something different for my granson`s 7th birthday to spend the day on the canal. After visiting the Canal Centre we found the staff more than happy to help & could not do enough for us. Even tho the weather was typical Scottish summer weather ( rain with patches of drizzle) it turn out to be... More

If you're in Linlithgow, definitely take the time to visit the Canal Centre and cruise along the canal. It's such a peaceful setting, a wee world of its own away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The canal is so calm, with wildlife, waterfowl and beautiful trees. The boats themselves are beautifully preserved - it's such a treat... More

A unique canal museum (the only one in Scotland!) occupying an old canal-side building over-looking the picturesque Linlithgow Palace. Displaying a limited but very informative selection of canal memorabilia and photographs. Very friendly volunteer staff. Tasty snacks available in cafe next door. Tickets sold for tours on canal boats past local town or further to majestic Avon viaduct. More

A really enjoyable mini-cruise, all the staff I met at the Canal Basin were most helpful, it was the most relaxing time I spent on my visit to Scotland. More

I can only praise the services of Linlithgow Union Canal Society as I have utilised their boats, namely Victoria and St.Magdalene, on many occassions for my tour groups. There is always a warm welcome from the volunteers who are so enthusiastic about what they have on offer at their Manse Road Basin facilities. The Tea Room is ideal for a... More
