Myself and my two children went over to Rathlin in February 2012,during half term, not having done much research! I did not realise that absolutely everything is closed out of season - even though it was half term holiday, and, sadly, no-one told me this when I was booking a ticket on the ferry across. I now wonder were they... More

Kinramer Cottage - if you've an itch to get your walking boots onto Rathlin - staying a day is like ordering "just toast" when there's a full 7 piece fry on the menu. You need to puker up and stay a night or two - Rathlins' blend of harsh weather, salty air, lack of phone signal and fashion are complimented... More

I went to Rathlin Island in December, it may not sound like the best time of year to visit a remote island, but I had a great time. The island is beautiful, many birds, even in winter, and a lot of seal action too. I spent three days on Rathlin, staying at Kinramer 'Camping Barn' (it is really a hostel... More

My mum requested to spend her birthday on Rathlin Island. We had no problem booking our return ferry and the crossing itself was pleasant. Our first port of call was for a "wee cup of Tea" at the Manor House Hotel. We were served by a very friendly waitress who provided us with tips for visiting the Island. We spoke... More

From Ballycastle. Saw two whales on the way across. Arrived on island and we got on a bus to the bird sanctuary which is why we went. We arrived at the sanctuary at 10.30 to be told that the bus would pick us up at 11.15 only giving us a short while to see the birds, not only that we... More

Had a great time in Raithlin last weekend 6th-8th May... We hired Arkle Cottages out for the two nights. The houses and the view were magnificent... We walked with two children for about 1 hour up into the hills... The puffin bus passed by and he stopped and gave us a lift out to the puffins. He was very pleasant... More

As the only hotel doesn't open until early May we had to be content with a day-trip to Rathlin Island. The ferry to Rathlin (from Ballycastle) is basic but adequate and not too expensive: in any case its only a thirty minute journey at most. An absolute highlight was the trip to the bird conservancy at the western end of... More

We did a family trip(my 83 year old fathers bucket list) to rathlin island. After what seemed a long boat journey on the tiny ferry we landed at rathlin island and were greeted by an ancient blue bus with a little hand written sign that said 'berts buses'. After a friendly negotiation with bert, we boarded, all 13 of us.... More

This is a superb place to visit and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We did not take the bus to the bird sanctuary and so cannot comment on the unfortunate experience a previous reviewer had with the bus driver. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and we (several friends over for a long weekend from England) found the... More
