This is an amazing place to stay in. The castle is fabulous as the other reviews have said - A friend asked me if there were any ghosts and I honestly don't think there would be room as there is so much stuff in there! The grounds are delightful to walk around, especially in May when the bluebells are out.... More

We stayed one night in Huntington Castle and really enjoyed it. The castle itself has the family living there still, with some guest rooms, and we could not have been made feel more welcome by Alex and his family. We brought our daughter along, and when we asked about this in advance a cot was provided for her and we... More

My wife and I recently visited huntingdon castle for the first time and we will be back! The castle itself dates from 1625 and has been continually lived in by the same family, indeed the hugely interesting tour is conducted by the present owner and there are lots of anecdotes on the family and about the curios that abound. Two... More

We've always wanted to stay in castle but this stay was much more than that. The owner, Alex, only rents three rooms in this large castle and is a direct descendant on the founding family, which makes for an interesting stay. Don't miss the tour offered by Alex, after which the place is really brought to life! Expect a very... More

An amazing place with a complex and very interesting history, made more so by an excellent tour, given by a member of the family who have owned it for centuries. Add beautiful gardens and lots of things for kids to do and you've got a great destination, which you'll always remember. More

I visited Huntington Castle yesterday August 4th 2011. Carlow County Council run a Garden Trail Week once a year. They recommend interesting gardens to see and organise talks and demonstrations with gardening experts during your visit. I must say it was a great week. A great week to put in for next year’s diary if you like the good outdoors... More

Myself and a friend stayed last Monday in this truly idyllic castle for a romantic break having read a magazine article about the castle and its history and current owners Alex and Clare. It truly is a wonderful place to stay. We were given a guided tour of the castle and its history by Alex and took suggested walks as... More

The tour was given by the great nephew of the eldest remaining member of the family, who at 90 was away on tour in Hawaii. The selfsame woman was on safari and shot a crocodile at the age of 16. The castle is authentic - filled with marvelous wonders. The first house in Ireland to have electric light. It has... More
