This is a difficult place to review but I do think that anyone in the area should take a drive through it. It is very barren and rocky as you would expect but it has an eerie silence to it which made me feel uncomfortable. As someone else has said it is like a lunar landscape. I do generally like...

I had read this area described as "lunar like landscape" and that sums it up. It is totally different from the rolling green hills, huge cliffs and beautiful beaches of the rest of what we saw on our ten day tour with Paddywagon Tours (highly recommended). It was beautiful in it's own way.

One of the best provincial landscape we have ever seen. Wondrful green meadows that end to the see, blue sky and ruins of medieval castles, compose a place of incredible beauty...

A wonderful place. I imagine there is nothing like it on Earth. It is like being on the surface of the moon while on the edge of the Atlantic ocean.

The Burren is like no other countryside I've ever seen. It's rocky and barren, yet still lush in that peculiar Irish way. If you're interested in natural history or geology, it's a wonderful place, and if not, a pretty nice drive.

We visited in 3-12 and drove thru The Burren countryside. Completely different from what you think of when you think of Ireland. Rock, Rocks and MORE Rocks! Must be very harsh thru the winter as in March the winds were bitter. Beautiful in its own right, very unexpected, and yet pleasant.

My husband and I drove through The Burren on our way from the Cliffs of Moher to Ashford Castle in Cong. It was a very interesting drive, something we have never seen before. If you are in the area, it is worth a drive.

The Burren was an amazing rock landscape, beautiful, stark - I actually enjoyed this more than the Ring of Kerry (maybe because we visited in March) Beautiful drive. Loved the portal tomb - even older than the great pyramids! I understand over 20 varieties of orchids flourish there in the summer??? We'll worth the time. My son loved the rocks.
