"Cork City Gaol" is pricier than Dublin's "Kilmainham Gaol" for sure, but it seems in much better general condition and the waxworks of former inmates in various 'exhibition cells' are a nice touch that make this gaol more family-friendly for visitors with young children than Kilmainham. Nestled in a neighborhood outside the city center, the jail was a bit hard to find but worth the search. And the grounds were lovely. We got a coupon from the Lancaster Lodge (part of a guide book) for two tickets for $12, normally two for $14 or $16. But we would have happily paid full price to support this... More

We walked all the way up from the hotel. It is quite a walk, most of it uphill, but the way the history of the Gaol is presented makes it all worthwhile! More

Worth a look to get the history of what people went through More

For 8 euro I expected to see more. Only small part of the Goal is accessible for tourists. But I guess the rest of the space is the same cells. The guidebook explaining each rooms and functions and the history is interesting, but definitely not worth the money. More

Apart from the audio tour recorders being held together by sellotape my visit here was really enjoyable. The building itself is interesting as it is but the audio tour adds great stories to what happened in the cells and how the prison changed over time. Really good value and very very interesting. More

Interesting wax figures, nicely curated, good stories. Video at the end, a bit of a gift shop. Worthwhile. More
