It is closed on Sundays and bank holidays so we looked forward to the English Market for 3 days before we finally got there. What a massive bummer. I visited the market in march 09. I was surprised how small it was. But the companys there were very good and the meat and fish just look great. My only problem would be the cafe upstairs. I thought it was a little pricey. But to be honest Ireland is expensive full stop. more

If you love food the English Market in Cork City is a must. After you find it (we walked around it twice before finding and entrance) and enter the sheer variety of food is amazing. Okay if you're squeamish about seeing loads of animal parts, DO NOT go to the English Market. If you can handle seeing enough animal parts to reconstruct a barnyard, the English Market is fascinating.
