The 1931 church was designed by Chicago architect Barry Byrne. It was the first church built in the UK or Ireland with mass concrete -- a major departure from cut stone. Even the unsupported ceiling is concrete! It's within walking distance of the city centre and worth the walk. more

Controversial, avant-garde (for Cork) church. Apparently the architect committed suicide (this may be a myth). Cosy confessionals, delicious host. more
