This is one of Donegal's greatest attractions. If you're up for it walk up to the casle - stunning views, otherwise a return on the bus costs Euro2. In hotter weather bring a spray as there's a lot of biting insects! I went on 12th Feburary and although it was cold the gardens were still lovely, walk down to the... More

Well worth just getting there. The castle tour was interesting and informative. The castle was built in 1870 as a summer hunting lodge. They even had a heated swimming pool next to the lake. The garden tour was lead by the head gardener. Not too much detail but an overall discussion on the history of the large garden areas. There are... More

Don't be put off by the distance you may have to travel to get to this part of Ireland - if you are within 1 1/2 hous drive it is well worth a visit. We didn't have time to walk a great deal but it is an ideal spot for this. If you didn't tour the castle or take the... More

Plan at least four hours. TAKE THE WALK from high in the valley down to the castle--the park runs a free shuttle to the trailhead. (It left at 10 a.m. the day we were there.) A magical view the entire 8 km, both down the valley over rugged green hills and lake, and to the hillsides on either side with... More

I arranged for our camera club from the U3A in Londonderry to attend a a photographic day class and a walk around the lakes at a cost of €5 pp. We had a wonderful day, the Tudors (two young ladies) were excellent and the amazing views meant that there were lots of photo opportunities during the walk. Well worth a... More

We set off on a cold misty morning looking for Glenveagh. I had never been to a national park before and this was worth waiting for. When driving towards it you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere (in a good way!) We did the Castle Walk. We were two of very few people that were there as... More

Just back from a visit to Donegal. Went to Glenveagh National Park and its definately worth a visit. The Gardens are Wonderful with a little cottage situated in the middle of the main garden. Views are just amazing and the Castle Tour was very interesting. Loved the Homemade Scones in the little cafe at the Castle. Really worth a visit More
