The drive to Doagh village is stunning in itself but I was not really prepared for such an interesting and informative visit. The guide's comments were entertaining and insightful, especially how he made historical events relevant to the present day. The fact that this was his family home made its impact all the stronger. This visit represents great value for... More

This place, i loved. Staff are very friendly. We got wheaten bread and tea/coffee on arrival while we waited for our tour guide. The tour guide was friendly and explained everything in good detail and when the tour was over after 45mins he let us look around and take photos. Would recommend and go back. More

Visited over the Easter holidays, the tour guide and owner pat was very informative and funny explaining all the old sayings and where they originated from. A lot of work has gone into this place and the surrounding area is truly beautiful. it was a very enjoyable experience and at 7.50 euro for admission its certainly a good way to... More

The Famine Village is a fantastic, family-run attraction that you will never come across anywhere else in the world. It not only brings the story of the famine into a modern day context but tells the story of Ireland's past up until the modern day. The trip starts off with lovely home made bread and tea before the guide, a... More

The Famine Village just doesn't tell the story of the Famine, it sets it in a world historical context while also comparing the situation in the 1840s with the developing world today. The people who run it are wonderful, knowledgeable and treat everyone well. The welcome of tea, coffee and soda bread is worth the trip alone. On our trip... More

I was staying in Derry as part of a study abroad trip from the States and we drove over to the Doagh Famine Museum. It was a great afternoon, despite pouring cold rain and strong winds. Our trip started with tea/coffee and bread/biscuits, then we were led through the various exhibits: two houses to show the lifestyle of the time,... More

While staying at Ballyliffen a friend recommended that we visit the Doagh Famine Museum. We did not know what to expect as it looks very small from the outside but was surprised at how big it is. We were met by a very friendly member of staff and went tp the waiting area and were served with tea and coffee.... More

This is a little off the beaten track, but well worth the visit. It is €7.50 per adult. This covers a tour, and tea/coffee with brown bread and biscuits. The tour was very insightful into life years ago, and meanings behind some sayings we have in Ireland, UK and even France. It gives a good background to traditions we had,... More

This well thought out attraction is wonderful, uniting the past and present in a unique way. It will prove to be educational to the young and old alike and gives us a taste of history in a gentle way. A history, that is really not that long ago. It is an eye opener to the way people lived day to... More
