Famous for its breathtaking beauty, magnificent architectural features and wonderful floor tiles, Christ Church is also popular as a venue and is host to many high profile concerts throughout the year. It is home to the tomb of Strongbow, leader of the Normans, who captured Dublin in 1170. The Medieval Crypt, one of the largest in Britain and Ireland, extends under the entire Cathedral and contains The Mummified cat and rat, trapped in the organ in the 1860s. « less

The ruins gave a look into the past and the architecture was awe inspiring. The stained glass was beautiful. More

The Christ Church Cathedral definitely had more to offer than Saint Patrick's, however, I thought it was extremely strange that there was a coffee shop and gift shop in the "crypt" Strangest crypt I had ever been to. There was a nice educational video in the crypt that gave the history which was interesting but I don't think I would... More

Money grubbing. Gorgeous architecture like any old European cathedral, but it gave me the spiritual willies. More

Thank you for your review. What many people don't realize about the cathedral is that we are a registered charity which doesn't receive any state funding (number CHY 4271 if you want to check it out). I'm assuming the comment 'money grubbing' refers to our very reasonable admission fee. Unfortunately it is necessary for us to charge this to be... More

This is a gorgeous cathedral and not to be missed! To avoid overcrowding, visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. A really special treat is to attend on of the Evensong services. The various cathedral choirs (adult, men & boys, boys, girls) are all excellent and it is a wonderful way to relax in the middle of... More

We expected to be impressed by the architecture and history of this wonderful church, but the tower tour was what gave us the best surprise. We thought we'd just be climbing those twisty, ancient steps to get a view of Dublin from above-which we did, and it was neat. However, who knew we'd get a lesson in ringing the bells... More

Hi there, I'm so glad you enjoyed your belfry tour - it's quite an experience isn't it, especially since there are more bells in Christ Church belfry than anywhere else in the world! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in our fair city. More

If you want a church tour it's 6 euro, if you want to go to the bell tower, it's a different trip and 4 more euro. ask ahead of time. The crypt is very cool. More

I had come to Dublin 10years ago and was impressed with christ church.. The crypt specifically. This time not so much, it has been transformed into a tourist trap with a silly cafe in the crypt. After spending time in Rome and Italy the church doesn't impress me anymore although it is lovely More
