This place was awesome! I loved it. It shows a lot of history through documents and pictures. Soldiers and War exhibit was the highlight... it reflects on the Anglo-Irish War and you even see things like uniforms, guns and the official surrender. Vital to understanding all those comments you hear about the English. more
We totally enjoyed our day here. It was an amazing museum. There were 3 exhibits on display while we visited: 1916 Rebellion (excellent), Soldiers and Chiefs Ireland at War (even more excellent) and High Crosses (unreal and surreal). We also enjoyed the regular exhibits. If this museum has anything special going on while you visit Dublin, please check it out.... more
This museum is dedicated to Irish Decorative Arts & History, which covers a broad area. They have different sections devoted to a wide variety of subjects: Coins/Currency (quite good), silver, scientific instruments, furniture, etc. Really just wander around looking at what catches your eye. It's free. Particularly useful if the weather turns against you, and it's convenient to the Luas... more
